Terms of Service

Last updated June 2026

These terms cover your use of Oona. We've kept them as plain as we can.

Plain-English draft for review. Please have this checked by a legal professional and insert your registered business details before you rely on it — it isn't legal advice.

1. Agreement

By creating an account or using Oona, you agree to these terms. Oona is provided by [operating entity — to confirm], based in New Zealand ("we", "us"). If you're setting up a household, you confirm you're an adult and that you're responsible for the people — including any children — you add to it.

2. What Oona is

Oona is a private family-organiser service — calendars, lists, chores, messaging, an AI assistant, and related features — for your household to use together. Some features are part of the paid Oona Plus plan.

3. Your account

  • Keep your login details secure and don't share adult accounts.
  • You're responsible for activity in your household, including children's accounts you create and the PINs you set for them.
  • Tell us promptly at support@oona.co.nz if you think an account has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

Please use Oona lawfully and respectfully. Don't use it to store or share unlawful, harmful or infringing content, to attempt to access other households' data, or to disrupt or misuse the service. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

5. Subscriptions & billing

  • Oona has a free plan and a paid Oona Plus plan (one subscription per household). Current pricing is NZ$6.99/month or NZ$49/year, shown inclusive of GST.
  • Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. Trials convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled before they end.
  • You can cancel anytime; you'll keep Oona Plus until the end of the current billing period. We don't generally provide refunds for partial periods, except where required by law.
  • Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act and Fair Trading Act.

6. The AI assistant

The AI assistant is provided for convenience and can be wrong or incomplete. It is not a substitute for professional advice (medical, legal, financial or otherwise). Please use your own judgement, especially for anything important.

7. Your content

Your family's content is yours. You grant us the limited permission needed to store, process and display it so we can provide the service to your household. We don't claim ownership of your content and we don't use it to train AI models.

8. Availability & changes

We work hard to keep Oona running well, but we don't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may add, change or remove features over time, and we'll give reasonable notice of significant changes where we can.

9. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, Oona is provided "as is", and we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Where you deal with us as a consumer, your rights under New Zealand consumer law continue to apply and are not excluded by these terms.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using Oona and delete your household at any time (email privacy@oona.co.nz). We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly breached.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll let you know, and the date at the top will reflect the update.
